CARHUAZ


To 2,650 msnm and 34 km to the north of Huaraz Carhuaz, a city of traditional court, is built to the mestizo style. Their wide Square of Weapons welcomes modern constructions like the Civic Center and the Sanctuary of Mercedes' Virgin whose festivity takes place the 24 of September.

In Carhuaz, the climate reaches its best quality, the fields are exuberant, the fertile lands and with abundant watering water, they produce corn, vegetables, vegetables, some varieties of fruit-bearing as the apple and the peach.

TOURIST ATTRACTIVENESS

Among the tourist most important attractiveness in Carhuaz they are the following ones:

THE OLYMPIC TIP
To 4,890 m.s.n.m., located in the highway Carhuaz - Shilla - Chacas, where one can observe and to feel the perpetual snow and the crystalline waters of showy lagoons, as well as to practice "Siqui Sky" or "Poto Ski", in other words; to slip sat down on a mat in the snow.

THE GULCH DE ULTA
This gulch is located in the Highway Carhuaz - Shilla - Chacas, before arriving to the Olympic Tip flanked by the North by imposing Huascarán and for the south with majestic Huálcan.

LAGOON DE AUQUISCOCHA AND CASCADES
Lagoon located in the North part from Snowy Hualcán to 4319 msnm, this surrounded of ice, rocks and exotic vegetation. Their waters reflect among the rocks forming spectacular cascades and waterfalls. Their access is through the Highway Carhuaz - Shilla - Chacas, deviation on the way to horseshoe passing Cathay, apróximadamente at three hours of walk.

PAMPAS DE SHONQUIL
Located to the foot from Snowy Hualcán to two hours of walk of the Village of Hualcán, be probably the channel of a lagoon that the old population of Carhuaz razed in the Pre-Inca time or Inca.

SNOWY DE HUALCAN AND THEIR LAGOONS
With 6122 mts of altitude, with perpetual snows, approximately at two hours of the Pampas of Shonquil; it houses in their skirts to paradisiacal lagoons as Rajupaquina, 513, Cochca and Yanahuanca.

SNOWY GLASS AND LAGOON LEJIACOCHA
With 6188 mts of altitude in whose base the Lagoon of Lejiacocha, the access is located it is through an on the way to horseshoe leaving of Vicos and Big Glass.

GULCH SLING
This gulch is located in the highway Carhuaz - it will Mark - Chacas, in the south part of the Snowy Glass, its higher point is Portachuelo to 4850 msnm.

LAGOONS DE HUALLCACOCHA AND CHEQUIACOCHA
These lagoons are located in the south part of the Gulch from Ulta to 4850 msnm, in their part but high, their access is through on the way to horseshoe, with a walk of approximately three hours.

THE ONE KNEW JKALKA (Stone of the Devil)
It is a concave, convex rock, in the concave part there is a carved figure of a devil, at first sight it is not visible, but when tossing him/her it dilutes or to squeeze it with leaves of grass becomes visible. It is located in the south part of the City of Carhuaz, in the Neighborhood of Tambo, approximately to 10 minutes of walk of the Square of Weapons.

THE SPA OF ARMANAN (Place where the witches take a bath) TRIMS GLASS
This spa this located in the north part of Carhuaz, approximately to 1 Km. of the Square of Weapons, via highway Carhuaz - Caraz. Through the time it has generated legends and myths.
