HUARI


Huari been founded as Sacred Domingo of Huari, is a Peruvian city 1, capital of the homonymous district and of the county of Huari, located in the center-oriental part of the region Ancash. It has an urban population of 3.858 inhabitants located to the 3149 msnm in the oriental slope of the Mountain range Blanca beside the river Huaritambo, in the left sub-basin of the river Marañón.

Their name derives of the Quechua one and it means "untamable, rough, giant, autochthonous", maybe in allusion to the abrupt of the mountains that you/they surround it.

The tradition says that it was founded by Juán Huarín (of where he/she would come him/her their name) and María Jiray. The Spanish foundation corresponded the Viceroy Toledo in 1572, under the name of Sacred Domingo of Huari. Their creation like District was carried out during the Independence of Peru.

The capital of the district is also the city of Huari, capital of the county of Huari. It is located to 3.149 meters on the sea level.

Among the traditional plates of the district they highlight the Spicy of Guinea pig (mountain traditional plate of the culinary one of Peru) and Llajhuari. Llajhuari is a genuine plate of Huari, it would be said that it is precursory of the buffets; it is a personal consistent mini-buffet in several "spicy" served in oneself plate (in the field they are generally wooden, called "pucu"), accompanied, clearing is, of a "poto" of (pumpkin vessel or zapallo) jora chicha. The word Quechua llajhuari, translated to Spanish, would mean: "something worthy of being licked."

Between their flora and particular fauna he/she is the Flower of Huagancu, the condor, the puma and the bear of glasses.

TOURIST ATTRACTIVENESS

Lagoon of Purhuay, to the interior of the National Park Huascarán, in the County of Huari. Sector of Conchucos. It has a picnic (for pachamancas) area and of camp, one can make journeys of one day on foot for the alrrededores of the lagoon to appreciate the flora and fauna of the place.

The waterfall María Jiray considered as the unknown jewel of the area of Conchucos, one of the most beautiful scenarios that one has never seen, for their natural beauty, it is located 3,380 m.s.n.m. To arrive to the waterfall from Huari it is 1 hour in car and then he/she is carried out a walk of 20 minutes approximately. Ascending through the forests, where you can appreciate an impressive variety of flora.

The archaeological Place of Marcajirca is located 1 h 30 min of Huari, A journey of 40 min in car and 50 walk min, politically it belongs to the district of Cajay, and to the annex of Chinchas. Their geographical location is UTM. 2 66013 and and 89 63521 N. to an altitude: 3,807 m. s. n. m., it occupies an approximate area of 18 hectares.

Huanchac is a center for the practice of adventure sports, a palaestra exists to carry out artificial escalade, likewise a system of strings and pulleys to slip through the valley, also recreation area for children.

To proximities of Huaritambo he/she is the Lagoon of Reparín.
