COLONIAL BRIDGE OF CHUMBAO


This bridge that is in the crossing of Av. Martinelly and Av. of the I Exercise, it is built in the year of 1776, in times of the Viceroy Amat, being Corregidor of Andahuaylas The Big of the Real Crown, don Manuel Camargo, is built and it inaugurates the bridge of lime and stone with two arches on the river Chumbao, as well as the annual fair of the carnival is established. The corregidor Camargo who gathered a great fortune, like an alternative to capture bigger revenues in the 4 year-old lapse ordered to build the mentioned bridge with the purpose of facilitating the access to the natives to the population, so that they attend an annual fair that it should begin February 22 and to finish on Sunday of carnival. Event to which attended carrying their products to trade (wools, leathers, etc.), in exchange for merchandise that exclusively the corregidor offered.
