THE CLOISTER OF THE NOVICES

The area of the Probation, is an area, a cloister, dedicated to the formation of the women that you/they wanted to be religious. Around the cloister a series of paintings that you/they show us a religious art dedicated to the formation of the novices exist.

This monastery, is of filiation dominica and therefore Sacred Rosario's prayer, is one of the practices more appreciated by the nuns that here live. In Fact, Sacred Domingo of Guzmán (1170 -1221) founder of the Order Dominique, was one of the first and big apostles of Rosario.

At Sacred Rosario's end, from the XVI century, the Litanies Lauretanas is prayed that comes to be something like that as compliments to Virgin María. He/she is said this way: Throne of eternal wisdom and in the painting it presents it to him in a surrounded throne of books. He/she is said: Virgin Faithful and the artist introduces us to the Virgin with the boy in arms and then to the Virgin to the foot of the cross. That bigger sign of fidelity that an entire life, of the birth to the death!.

It is interesting to point out that the paintings besides guiding the novices, allowed to these to understand and to remember the meaning of each one of the Litanies, as if they read in a book. Let us remember that the wife of centuries behind had a faulty education, being few those that dominated the reading and writing. The used iconography, although reproduced with mestizo modifications by local painters in the XIX century, it was carried out by French P. TO. Varín between 1848 and 1849 and for the siblings Klaubert.

The Cloister of the Probation, just as we see it now, it was built between 1805 and 1808, during the first priorate of Sister Clara of San Juan Arismendi. She hugged the religious state in 1769 and he/she died in 1834 after being a prioress in two opportunities. Of her it is related that it was dressing the Boy of Ours of Socorro that was worshipped in a hermitage and when putting on shoes him/her some silver shoes he/she noticed that he/she didn't enter him/her and with candor he/she told him/her: "Beautiful Boy, don't make me suffer, it raises the foot. In that moment, he/she noticed that the Boy's image moved and he/she lifted the foot."
