PINACOTECA


When beginning the work of restoration of the Monastery before their opening, it was disseminated in all their extension a great collection of squares of predominant reason religious, exponents of the painting virreynal of Peru.

Aproximádamente 400 pieces was restored or "refreshed", so that recovers its original aspect. The work of expert hands has returned to today's observer, a collection of artistic and historical extraordinary value.

The main works are exposed in a majestic scenario: two immense rooms of high vault, prepared in cross, in which he/she has retired the one stucco, leaving the walls in ashlar. To the side another smaller complete vault the architectural unit dedicated to the Museum.

In Pinacoteca we can observe one of the most important samples in the religious art of the Continent. Besides a numerous collection of works of the call School Cusqueña of painting, maximum expression of the coalition of the feelings and values of two cultures: the Incan one and the Spaniard. The Indian artists of the XVI centuries - XVIII they reached artistic and handmade extraordinary ability in substitutes works of religious inspiration, famous for the originality of style, the depth of the expression and the use of gold in their finish.

He/she keeps this monastery pictorial works of the artistic diverse styles that you/they were developed during the virreynato and the first times of the republic. There are paintings of the style arrived manierista of Italy in the first times: canvases with white influence of the Spanish school, standing out a San Miguel Archangel clearly zurbaranezco, and naturally works of the call school cusqueña of painting that was developed in Peru during the XVII and XVIII centuries.
