COPORAQUE

Coporaque was during the time Inca pre and Inca a town of a lot of importance. The name of the district of Coporaque comes from two words Quechua qhoto (heap of corn) and rake (I siege where it is distributed), having as meaning "place where the corn" is distributed. In sum, the Incan empire established its political and administrative own organization in the Valley of Colca. The main curaca was named by the Inca. The vassalage in front of the Inca was expressed, in the first place, with the payment of the tribute, surrendered in clothes and maintenance. They were also given the beautiful daughters of the main caciques, as well as Indians for the war or to send them to other counties like mitimaes. Being the oldest temple in the Canyon of Colca, it is characterized by their bells made of the first foundries of copper of the palace of Inca Mayta Cápac, their construction dates of the second half of the XVI century (1569).
