CREEK DE CATARINDO

It is the current port of Arequipa and main of the south of Peru. You inaugurates January of 1951, 6 it is built in a bay that has natural coat, but you have been reinforced with two breakwater: one of 659m and the other of 31m of longitude. SURROUNDINGS DE MOLLENDO

MATARANI

Matarani is the current port of Arequipa and main of the south of Peru. You inaugurates January of 1951, 6 it is built in a bay that has natural coat, but you have been reinforced with two breakwater: one of 659m and the other of 31m of longitude. The summits of both artificial defenses constitute the only entrance that has the interior bay or area of it robs for the ships. This interior bay understands a triangular surface of some 100 hectares, and its depths from 9 to 12 fathoms, in the jetty they can acoderar simultaneously up to 4 ships of great soaked.

MEJÍA

Mejía is a beautiful summer place; until he doesn't make a lot, it could be considered as an exclusive spa of the suitable families of Arequipa. It counts with you magnify residences, generally busy only during the summer station. Near Mejía, toward the south, there is a great lagoon that has been formed of the filtrations of water of the irrigation Mollendo - Mejía - Ensenada.

THE SANCTUARY NATIONAL LAGOONS DE Mejía

Mejía's Lagoons this located 20 Km. to the south of Mollendo, it has an approximate area of 100 there are. and with three mirrors of water; for the reduced space it constitutes a complex habitat and a critical "place of conservation in the western coast of South America", their importance is demonstrated by the presence of not less than 157 species of birds, of which 72 are permanent residents, 85 are migratory in certain times of the year (39 correspond to North America or the arctic one, 15 to the southern part of South America or seas of the south, 08 to areas altoandinas of Peru and Bolivia and 23 are visiting wandering of diverse origin).

VALLEY DE TAMBO

It is a warm and very interesting valley that expands to the long of the river Tambo until their outlet in the sea. It is place very visited by the school tourism, mainly, but their resources can deserve a more widespread current.

A very interesting circuit can be the one that begins leaving from Arequipa toward the Pan-American south until the District attorney's Bridge, on the river Tambo; taking in this point the one deviated toward the valley, he/she goes by the big plantations of sugar of Chucarapi, with its corresponding factory of sugar; it is continued then by the populations of Cocachacra, Deán Valdivia, The Curve, Mejía and Mollendo, to return to Arequipa for Warriors, the pampas of the jewel and the Variant of Uchumayo. It can also leave The Curve to Tip of Chocolate, where there are some very converged beaches.

THE HILLS

It is a privilege of certain hills of the coast to have herbaceous vegetation that is formed because of the sprinkles or garúas of the station. They sometimes show up not very rainy years, and the hills non verdean and in all their splendor, but when the winter he/she comes with enough humidity, it is difficult to explain with words the esplendidez of the landscape that is formed. The loamy red earth is impregnated of the I liquidate element and an abundant and multicolored flora covers the crest and the hillsides of the hills.

There are beautiful but treacherous flowers, as the nettle; others that exhale an exquisite aroma, as the white amancae that alone it exists in Mollendo and in Camaná.

It is also plentiful the suncho, the amber one, the cuyajo, the clavelina, and a malvaceus one small, of flowers lilacs and celestial that cover the hills literally, giving them an aspect of fantasy.

It is lamentable that so much beauty he/she vanishes when it arrives the rigors of the summer; all the green one dies and the hill acquires a devastating aridity.
