HILL SAINT APOLONIA


The hill of Santa Apolinia has an approximate height 2,764 meters on the sea level. Located toward the Southwest of the square of weapons of Cajamarca, to scarce two blocks and he/she mediates, to the hill of Santa Apolonia he/she was known with the name Rumi Tiana or "Seat of Stone."

The culture Chavin is the one that modifies the summit of the hill Santa Apolonia in the year 1,200 before Christ. This culture built platforms and some underground structures in the hill, which were used as tombs. The tombs that were built in Santa Apolonia were for important people of Cajamarca. The town of Cajamarca in the century VII used the hill of Santa Apolonia for the adoration to the rain, to the ray and also to the stars. This place has maintained for many centuries like a sacred exclusive place for the adoration.
