SIMÓN BOLIVAR AND THE CROSS OF STONE

It counts the history that Simón Bolívar makes three oaths throughout his life, the first carried out it January 22 from 1803 to his wife's death María Teresa Rodríguez of the Bull and Alayza in Caracas, where he swore marry not again; and go if it completed it.

But it takes, August 15 1805 in Rome on the hill of Sacred Mount, Simón Bolívar which fated for the redemption of the Hispanic American towns, he/she promised to break the chains of the oppression, when in their teacher's presence Don Simón Rodríguez and their relative Don Fernando Rodríguez of the Bull exclaimed: I "swear before you, I swear for the God of my parents, I swear for them, I swear for my honor and I swear for my Homeland that I won't give rest to my arm neither rest to my soul, until it has broken the chains that oppress us for will of the Spanish" power.

The third oath would make it in the Peruvian city of Cajamarca December 17 1823 in fact before Cruz of Stone where Bolívar, as the commemorative badge prays, he/she "Swore to avenge the death of Atahualpa" and he/she intended to claim the right from a race to the freedom that it lost with the prison and sacrifice of the the last Inca.

Let us remember that in the pages of gold of the American independence, we read that Bolívar from I Remove, once organized the government after the brigade general's brilliant victory Antonio José of Sucre in Pichincha "Summit of the freedom" May of 1822, 24 move to Peru arriving at the port of Callao September of 1823, 10 starting from that moment he/she is devoted unfailingly to organize, to equip and to train to the new Army, parallelly it coordinated the political activities for the hard task of liberating that important region.

In their journey for the north of Peru went by Cajamarca, city located to 2,750 meters high, capital of the department of the same name the days 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 of December of 1823 where three centuries behind, July 26 1533 were executed Atahualpa, Inca born in I Remove and son of Huayna Cápac who paid with their life the fact of being the king of an empire whose wealths bordered on the myth and in the legend. To Bolívar he/she came to mind their oath of Sacred Mount and before their lieutenants and friends that accompanied him, the day 17 to the front of an old "Cruz of Stone" to the foot of the hill of Santa Apolonia, before saying goodbye pronounced a vibrant sentence prophetically swearing to retaliate before that cross the death of Atahualpa at the hands of conquering Francisco Pizarro.

Let us remember that the town cajamarquino had already given samples of patriotism when some local authorities supported by the rural mass to whose head the cacique don was Silvestre Astopilco, they agreed in open Town council, to adhere to the patriotic cause and to proclaim the independence of Cajamarca January 08 of 1821. Before such a situation the realistic neighbors abstained of all hostility, and advisably, the Spanish Subdelegate Felipe of the Cliff Torres the local government gave to Alcalde don Antonio Rodríguez of Mendoza, who from that then transformed into the first Governor patriot of Cajamarca.

During their stay in this city, Bolívar maintained coordinations with the patriots who provided to the cause liberal men, resources and provisionings. The support that offered doña María Micaela Egúsquiza and Aristizabal of Gálvez who he/she gave important contributions, astonishing the Liberator highlighted sharply. But it takes, in Lima Simón Bolívar founded the badge the Liberator's" band and it consigned María's name Micaela and that of his sister Mercedes in the payroll of those consecrated, grace to his important contribution to the cause of the freedom of Peru.

With running of the time, Bolívar with the victory of Junín first and later through the division general Antonio José of Sucre, winner in the Battle of Ayacucho "Summit of the American" glory, completed his oath of Cajamarca like one of the biggest expressions of American union.

These were the Liberator's three oaths Bolívar, the first before their wife's tomb in Caracas (Venezuela), the second in Rome (Italy) and the third in Cajamarca of Peru.
