COUNTY DE CAJABAMBA
The county of Cajabamba was founded by the friars of the "Order of the Great Father's Hermitaños" San Agustín who outstanding of Spain for the King Carlos V, with Pope's permission Paulo III, arrived to this region the year of 1533.
Impressed by the delicious climate, for the beautiful panorama where the exuberant vegetation and the springs of crystalline waters offered a favorable atmosphere for the development of a town; the friars were enthralled by the imposing square that he/she offers the nature, reason and reason for that that three Juanes: Brother Juan of San Pedro (Teacher Prior), Brother Juan of the Song and Brother Juan Ramírez, Lanla (Melodious River) settled down in the right bank of the river.
As beginning of their mission colonizadora, the frayles reorganized "Huarangas" that were small groupings of people that were dispersed and that they only met with work ends. With the meeting of Huarangas they founded the town of "San Nicolás of Tolentino of Cajabamba" and they built a chapel misional where at the moment is Santa Ana's General Cemetery. It counts the tradition that Simón Bolívar, the Liberator, to his step for Cajabamba in the year of 1824, called it affectionately "Gloriabamba" and he danced a seafaring northern salerosa with doña Chepita Ramírez under the shade of a capulí (that it is still conserved in the village "The Pampas").
José of the Sea, gave Cajabamba the title of "Villa" (1837). Two years later, Agustín Martingale, granted him/her the title of "Always faithful city of Cajabamba" and January 2 1850 the region rose to the county category. In 1861 the construction of the Main current Church ended and he/she was carried out the demarcation of the main city that takes the same name.
