PARTICIPATORY TOURISM IN THE SACRED VALLEY DE THE INCA
A MILLENNIAL PRESENT
In the Sacred Valley of the Inca, near Cusco, they are the local populations those that develop a participatory tourism where there is not observer neither observed, because the residents and visitors share the daily activities of the life, in an experience in those that the customs, traditions and technologies - many prehispanic times of origin - they are revealed to the visitor from he/she practices it same.
They are three the circuits that operate in independent form, offering a fan of possibilities according to the visitor's pleasure.
SALINERAS DE MARAS
Located to 55 km of Cusco (Via Chinchero) and a height of 3,200 msnm, the puddles of salt are worked by the local communities in a simple and handmade process, just as you toward in the Inca time. The hundred of white puddles, located in a sharp hillside, constitute a spectacular and only landscape.
The residents, preparations stop local guides, they begin the circuit with an explanation of the mythical thing and the real thing on the origin of the salineras. Then he/she visits one another to the flowing one main of where the salted water sprouts, which is driven knowingly by some fine channels until a complex system of puddles where the sun took charge of evaporating it, being in the floor the natural salt.

PLATFORMS DE YUCAY
Located in the district of Yucay, to 3 km of the city of Urubamba and 61 km of Cusco (Via Chinchero).
The platforms of Yucay - of prehispanic origin - they are a monumental sophisticated agricultural system. With high stone walls and a hydraulic complex system, the platforms or terraces (personal former-possession of Inca Huayna Capac) that surpass each one the 15 hectares they constitute a place I magnify and unbeatable in their I generate.
The same farmers - after welcoming - they take charge of driving to the group of visitors toward the platforms crossing the paved narrow streets of the town of Yucay and the chacras of corn white giant of Urubamba, alone cultivated here.
The guide explains as the Inca they built the platforms, showing the cultivation terraces and the agricultural tasks of the moment. SUBCUENCA DE PUMAHUANCA
In remote times, Pumahuanca - a rich valley of agricultural high production located next to the city from Urubamba to 2,800 msnm - it is part of the private lands of Inca Huayna Capac, the same as the platforms of Yucay, being even conserved today the Incan forms of cultivation, the remains of old constructions and mainly, the prehispanic system of watering that crosses the whole subcuenca.
The population this organized one in a Committee of Watering that contains to but of a thousand families.
To the beginning of the journey it rots to be noticed the diversity of their cultivations due to the high quality of the lands, he/she stops then to go into in the chacra and housing of a rural family. After a refreshing refreshment based on products of the area, the owner of the house and the guide they taught in he/she practices them, the agricultural techniques, either in the siembra time or it harvests or maybe be the time of giving thanks to PACHAMAMA (earth), one of the daily rituals that accustoms the Andean family.
Here also it will be shared folkloric music and a healthy and nutritious snack, as sign of an initiate friendship.
If you remains but time in the community, optionally is rotted to carry out walks from 1 to 5 days, always accompanied by the local guides who know the surroundings and its Incan rich history better than anybody.
ALL INCLUDED ONE
The half-day circuit includes the one guided (of the community), a refreshment, participation of the agricultural works or extraction of salt, and a memory of the area. The circuits of one day include, also, a lunch, music and dancers.
LOOKING AT THE CALENDAR
The agricultural tasks are carried out the whole year, restrigidas during the months of rain, of October to May.
In the Sacred Valley it is respected the environment and their people, and he/she is requested the same thing to the visitors who should participate in the conservation of the visited places, also respecting the form of life of the community and their customs.
