JAURANGA

The excavations in area in the place of Jauranga provided residence contexts, you knock down and ceramic that you/they characterize to the place like place of an establishment of the time Paracas with simple architecture of adobe. The place was populated continually at least from 600 a.C. up to 200 a.C. This is indicated by the analysis of the ceramic material of the excavation, which belongs to the stylistic phases Ocucaje 5/6 at 9 (550-200 a.C.). During the phase Ocucaje 9 the establishment was abandoned and only used as cemetery. 49 funeral contexts of the time Paracas was documented, among these a funeral structure of four adjacent cameras with adobe walls. Other 31 funeral contexts date of the time Nasca.

Jauranga can be characterized as a rural establishment. Until the moment there is not you you document monumental architecture in the place. However, Jauranga was integrated in a wide exchange net like they indicate discoveries of shell of the coast and obsidian of the mountain of Andes. The location of the place amid the valley shows the importance of this region for the early times. Also, the evidences of the excavations demonstrate that the culture Nasca had their antecedents in the same basin of the Big River of Nasca and not outside of the region, like it was postulated previously.
