COUNTY DE CHEPEN


The county of Chepén is one of the counties of the departameno or region The Freedom. Lima for the north with the department of Lambayeque, for the east with the department or region Cajamarca, for the south with the county of Pacasmayo and for the west with the ocean Pacific.

The origin of Chepén goes back to the time Inca pre; the oral tradition and archaeological remains give bill that Chepén has its origin in Moor under the domain of the culture Mochica, place that you/they abandoned to settle in its current territory, because of the alluvium of 1578. The name of Chepén appears in the documental registrations of the colony from 1567; in 1593, Toribio of Mogrovejo arrived to the 'Parish of Chepén.' The district of Chepén appears as such in 1760 integrated to the county of Zaña. April 18 1835 passed to be part of the new county of Chiclayo. November of 1864, 23 Chepén is included in the new county of Pacasmayo (created in Juan's government Antonio Pezet). November of 1914, 11 are promulgated the Law Nº 2006 in the one that Chepén rises to Villa to the category of City. The 8 of September of 1894, by means of Law Nº 23910, the county of Chepén is believed, with its capital Chepén.

It has tourist several attractiveness among those that highlight:

VIA CRUCIS

The Via higher Crucis of the world, built in the Hill of Chepén, is one of the religious most beautiful works. It is the second of America and third in the world. THE LARGE HOUSE DE TALAMBO

COMPLEX LURIFICO

FORTIFIED CITADEL

An archaeological and very strange treasure in the Peruvian coast, is located in the summit of the hill that covers to the current city. HUMEDAL DE MANQOCHE

Humedal of Manqoche is a lagoon that almost was disappeared in the years 1957 and 1958 planning to transform its channel into agricultural earth, happily this fact was not consummated and the lagoon still persists, although a little smaller.

It is a humedal of the Marshy type because it is a lagoon defined by high plants, as the totora and inea that dominate the flora of the place. This Lagoon is habitat of wild such birds as blue, ducks, gallaretas, chilalas, etc., and of an important flora among which highlights the totora potentially. The variety of plants and species offer a beautiful beauty paisajísticas that could be taken advantage of potentially in the development ecoturístico of the place.

PETROGLIFOS OF SAN SIMÓN

They are located in the Km. 17 of the highway to Cajamarca, the AA.HH. San Mateo. Chepén. The Hill San Simón when being observed from the highway is impressive for not being a common hill, but rather it exists superimposed rocks. BEACH CHERREPE

Beach Chérrepe is located in the limit between The Freedom and Lambayeque, in an area of beauties and contrasts. In this beautiful beach it is shown their places, their images, their nature, their geography, their history, their beauty, their customs, their kitchen.

In this coast piece you will find the image of the harmonious coexistence of the handmade fishermen, residents and the nature of the Creek of Chérrepe that it lasts in their simple customs through the years, of which many of their visitors have never forgotten, making of their return a new experience.

He/she enjoys their beaches, ravines, it borders rocky, boulders, biodiversity, evenings, he/she fishes and other, making of your demurrage something comforting and relaxing.

SAN JOSÉ OF MOORISH

Located in the route Moche, it is one of the places where he/she was defined the process of decadence of the Culture Moche. San José of Moorish is to 3. Kilometers to the north of Chepén, it was ceremonial center and cemetery for the elite of Mochicas of the area.

They have been discovered the tombs of two Priestesses of the "Ceremony of the Sacrifice", through excavations carried out in 1991 and 1992. Everything indicates that it is about a woman that participated in the sacrifice rituals through the presentation of the glass that contained the blood of the victims. Their presence symbolized the reproduction of its society.

This ceremony of the sacrifice began with a ritual combat among groups of the same society Moche, the conquered ones were robbed of its weapons, gears and once subjected, they were driven to its temples, as Huaca of the Moon, to be sacrificed.

The Priestess was the one in charge of offering this glass that contained the blood of the prisoners, to the maximum priest, one shows off to the Mr. of Sipán.
