SAN JOSÉ


San José's District is one of the 5 districts of the County of Pacasmayo, located in the Region The Freedom, Peru. It is located to an altitude of 104 msnm and toward the south side of the valley of Jequetepeque.

Their territory embraces 183 km² and it is conformed by two towns, three populated centers and sixteen human establishments and villages, in which a population resides of 11.504 inhabitants. Their limits are For the North it limits with the District of Guadalupe, for the West Nor-west with the District of Jequetepeque, for the Nor-this and East with the County of Contumaza-Cajamarca, for the South and South-east with the District of San Pedro of Lloc and for the South-west with the District of Pacasmayo. It is the third bigger district of the County of Pacasmayo and the only one without coast.

The District was created by supreme ordinance of June 21 1825 given by the liberator Simón Bolívar, years later it is reaffirmed as district, January of 1857, 2 during Ramón's government Castile and Marquisate that I dictate the Law Nº12301. San José of Bellavista (town) their capital, place where it is administered to the whole district, you originates by the middle of the XVII century, colonized by mestizos, pure, Creoles and Indian, coming from the town of Jequetepeque as a consequence of the natural disasters.

The colonists formed a small town to which denominated San José of Tecapa, name that you/they changed to San José of Bellavista in the beginnings of the independence. Few years their lands transformed into a stay and then they passed at the hands of the convent of Guadalupe, in the administration of the Augustinian Parents, the Augustinian Father, Brother Antonio Gentleman of Barrier who recasts to the town "San José Of Tecapa" in one of the warm days of summer after a Christian ceremony of 1769.

In the old territory of San José's district important towns exist, as Tecapa, Cosquepon, Cosque, Ñampol and Cultambo. Atualmente San Martin of Porres (San José Cross) is the second more important town of the district, continued by Sierra's Cover.

The District and particularly San José's town was participant of historical facts as the war of the I pacify and besides being heroes' cradle and writers.

Also bill with archaeological important areas, the forest the cañoncillo and beautiful countrysides. With their warm and temperate climate during the whole year, excellent for the health.
