MUSEUM OF PLACE DE TUCUME


The most important concentration of adobe pyramids in the north coast of Peru, is in the fertile and warm valley of The Milk, in the District of Túcume, to 33 Km. to the north of Chiclayo and about 50 m. of altitude. This spectacular one complex, surrounded of cultivations traditional, gnarled and old locusts, it corresponds to the last development of the culture Lambayeque whose beginnings 700 d.C goes back a years. in spite of the successive conquests of Chimú (1375), Inca (1740) and Spaniards (1532), this population maintained a strong identity, the images of their gods survived such influences.

Here the gentlemen of Túcume resided with the luxury characteristic of semidioses, in gigantic palaces decorated with reliefs of mythical and ritual content, furniture and exquisite jeweler's, surrounded of priests, administrators, servitude and expert artisans.

Túcume was the urban center of a society of farmers, but at the same time of skillful navigators, they were times of intense trade and exchange with diverse areas of the South American coast, the mountain and the northern forest.

The Museum of Place of Tucume manages an important collection conformed by the materials coming from the excavations in the pyramids of Túcume.

Therefore he/she carries out investigation works, preservation and conservation of this legacy. Also, the Museum develops protection tasks and conservation of the archaeological and cultural patrimony of the district of Túcume. One of the lines of additional more important interest is that of the traditions oral peasants.
