COUNTY OF MANU
The county of Manú is the minor in extension of the three counties that conform Mother's of God department. He/she understands the entirety of the basin of the river Manú and their main ones flowing (Kosñipata, Tone, Piñi Piñi, Palotoa) and it has four districts (Fitzcarrald, Huepetuhe, Mother of God and Manú).
This county is located in the end this of the department and file with the wild region of the north of Cusco. On their territory he/she is the great majority of tributaries that you/they feed for the margin right so much the river Manú as the Mother of God. Almost all these tributaries have their origin in the high parts of the National Park of Manú (mountain range of Vilcagonga or Paucartambo), which is, partly, inside the jurisdiction of the county.
Its capital, of the same name, is summoned the west of the fork of the rivers High Mother of God and Manú, to about 310 m.s.n.m. However, it is the town of Salvation the one that the times of provincial capital ago. Although the communication is mainly fluvial, in the county it is very important the highway that begins in Cusco, goes by Urcos, Paucartambo, Three Cruces, Santa Cruz and Shintuya. This terrestrial road arrives to the town of Itahuanía. From here it is trafficked by waterway in the High Mother of God until Mouth Manú and then for the Mother of God to Port Maldonado. This is a scenic one via that one of the most beautiful forests of fog in Peru crosses and where some housings have been located specialized in the avistamiento of birds (as the cockerel of the rocks) and other fauna species and wild flora.
In Cocha Cashu, a biological station exists from which investigations are made on the flora and fauna of this protected area. Additionally, although without entering to the Park, many tourists arrive to appreciate Amazonía in the almost natural state in that it is in the county of Manú.
