COUNTY DE JORGE BASADRE


Created in 1,988, he/she understands the districts of Locumba, Ilabaya and Ite. Their capital is Villa of Locumba, headquarters of the famous sanctuary of the Mr. of Locumba, also call "Mr. of the Burnt" Feet.

Watered by the river Locumba, the city is on an esplanade in the skirts of a hill of little elevation (559 m.s.n.m), to 93 km. of the city of Tacna.

The coast that skirts it is rocky, steep and the sea has produced geographical accidents among those that the tips of Batán, Picata and Santa Rosa highlight.

The valley of Ilabaya is on a small land elevation, in the intersection of the valley of the river of the same name that it descends of the heights of the county of Tarata and the gulch that he/she comes from Calumbraya.

In the pampas of Ite, irrigated by the river Locumba, abundant pastizales exists where bovine and equine livestock is raised, especially in the area of the Hills. Of north to south the English beaches, Ite and Meca are located that in fact are small towns of fishermen.

MUSIC AND DANCES

The songs dances and dances are manifested through the different festivities that are cultivated in the area: carnivals, birthday and religious parties. Formerly the "gang" was danced and it was conformed by four or eight couples. During the dance they made a step called "patineé", this foreign dance was very popular in the parties. GASTRONOMY, POTTAGES AND TYPICAL DRINKS

PREPARATION OF TYPICAL PLATES:

PREPARATION OF TYPICAL DRINKS:

"Chicha": Ingredients: dry fig, barley and fruits. The chicha gets ready with 8 days of anticipation, a kettle is placed with water, he/she throws the fruits all chopped agregándosele the milled figs, the barley mills it and they incorporate it to the previous preparation, when the kettle has begun to boil. Then it is strained and he/she puts on in vessels so that it ferments, after 8 days the chicha will be mature and one will be able to serve.

The Typical Suit of Jorge's County Basadre locates it in Cambaya, its gear is simple: It consists of a blouse of white silk color, they take it lightly loose, it is adorned with thin tapes of different colors giving a touch of innocent coquetry to the woman of Cambaya, they only take a skirt of a color (habitation), plisada that they receive until the knee, their hairstyle consists on two braids and to be protected of the sun they take a hat of black color, its feet protect them with a couple of sandals, footwear that you/they make it of the leather of the animals.
