THE DISTRICT OF KIND
The town of KIND, capital of the district of the same name, it is located 850 m.s.n.m. Their climate is tempered, dry and stable; the town is surrounded of a picturesque countryside; there are abundance of trees and varied vegetables.
For a side of the town he/she is the dry bed of the river caplina.
In the temple antigüo, of colonial invoice, the image of Rosario's Virgin is worshipped.
To the around of the name of KIND, (the one that is derived of the voices aymaras: "Kaala hana", place with coat of stones, accumulation of stones or stony place), it exists a legend that, but or less, he/she explains this denomination: "One of the primitive tribes that were resided in the head of the valley takano, advances some kilometers but below.
The land is covered with great quantity of stones. Some "wilcas" grows beside the riacho. Some "siwenkas" balances to the winds that you/they come from far. Toward the northwest a hill runs off with in whose summit and hillside, blackish stains of "tillancias" whose (everlasting flowers) roots notice on the moving earth extend; and toward the south, the concise hills of color yellow-ocher are clipped.
The group stops under the shade of the "wilcas." The boss of the group examines the field. He/she realizes that the earth is fertile; but they exist heaps of rocks that, in the first geologic times, they were dragged by the big "llocllas", from the high summits cordilleranas. And returning to their companions tells them: "KAALA HANA."
After a brief rest, the boss encourages the men with these words: "ANCHICHA KAALA UNJTAYATANA!" (In this instant we clean the land of stones). Immediately, the men, women and children clean the field of stones; then, they build shacks of stone walls and "siwenkas" roofs. With the scarce waters that arrive to the place, they water the small cultivations.
In the aldehuela there is a hive of men that you/they plow the earth. Of the shacks, in the mornings and the afternoons, the fume of the lit vents runs off with. The fields are turned green and make happy. The time passes. For the roads cordilleranos, they arrive to the welded valley and mitimaes "keswas", sent by powerful Inka, to assure the dominance of the Empire in the coastal vast area. A wide road, on-line straight line, diagonal, for the northeast side of the hill, they have construído the correspondents of Inka, with the help of all the inhabitants of the valley.
The "wilcas" is but coposas. They have expanded the cultivated fields of golden cornfields; of papers of white florecillas, habitations and blue and of zapallares of wide, rounded leaves.
In an evening of the year 1536, for the side of the sea, some white men appear, of luenga beard, with twinkling armors, riding in pawing steeds.
The simple inhabitants contemplate astonished, absorbed, to the new conquerors.
Some of the white men, flattered by the kindness of the climate and the fecundity of the earth, stay in the place. The town has already enlarged.
KIND, during Virreynato and in the years of the Republic, fué an important center, with reason of the arrieraje that was intensified by the trade with the districts of the Highland. It was a place enough town. Fué residence of the conquerors' descending numerous families. The main street of the town was a tambos succession, hostelries, forge shops, hairdressers and trade stores. In the dawns and in the evenings they resonated for the roads polvosos the chimed of the cowbells of the "packs" that you/they arrived or they took trip.
Times of peak, of commercial movement, of moral well-being and material floated on the town. Hefty, brave, cheerful, the men owners of packs or peons, made run the silver like sound and brilliant" rivers.
